in the cold mountain air

Hello, I've had a busy but lovely long weekend! With a mix of my birthday and Jubilee celebrations I figured it'd be nice to share what I've been up to over the past few days.

Friday I went out for a meal with my friends, and had a cheeky slice of my beautiful birthday cake from Waitrose. I honestly think it's one of the most beautiful cakes I've seen, I mean, it's pink and was covered in glitter and flowers! Surely that's every girl's dream! I also went out to get my hair done and to have a manicure and pedicure, which I'll make another post on as I tried out OPI's new Gel Color polish which is amazing.
We got free cupcakes from our local butcher in spirit of the Jubilee, so that was a cake fest round two.
On Sunday we celebrated the Jubilee with an indoor picnic because the weather was absolute pants, to add to the festivities we had Christmas napkins and birthday cake. I felt so sorry for the Queen, I felt cold just watching the rain crashing onto the windows, let alone standing on a boat on the Thames for four hours!
Monday we went to Chester in an attempt to find myself a birthday present, talk about short notice. I was marginally successful, I found a gorgeous ring but they didn't have my size, and now I'm trying to find it online/locally and they only have bigger or smaller sizes which is just my luck. So I still don't have a present two days after my birthday!
On Tuesday I finally turned eighteen! I was treated to a semi-fry up breakfast with a potato wrapped in tin foil with a candle stuck in it, talk about quick thinking! I was also awoken by balloons and posters plastered all over the house, and my drive/street courtesy of my Dad- very embarrassing! In the afternoon I went to a lovely tearoom with my Mom in Bridgnorth. We had an afternoon tea which came on a cake stand and everything, and they were playing forties music in the background it was like a time warp! I drank my body weight in camomile tea and ate millions of lovely little sandwiches and cakes. I can't say enough about the cakes, and I'm still thinking about them now, they were amazing! In the evening I went to Cafe Rouge with my parents and had a pretty chilled but delicious meal, and I ordered my first legal drink! I'm glad I didn't get ID'd because the photograph on my provisional license is appalling!
Wow this is probably the longest post I've ever made, so if you've managed to get to the end of this you deserve a virtual hive five! I plan to be a lot more active on here after my exams (5 days to go, eep!) so keep an eye out for me!

How were your weekends?
Love x
